You all know that I can't drive my 100E 2.8 V6 auto to save my life, but
on the few occasions that I've had the pleasure of extending what is a
delicious sounding and meliflous running engine against the competition
of other road cars, it has never let me down. 0-60 times are pretty
meaningless, except for the traffic light drag races the seventeen year
olds induldge in; what counts is 30-70 or 50-90.
Coming off a roundabout onto a dual carriage way, head to head with a
320i, the transmission in normal, the audi was equal with the BM. Until
we passed 60. By 90, we're talking spinning like flies - the audi just
pulls much harder. The engine hauls smoothly at any speed, but it
doesn't start cooking until other cars are out of breath and beginning
to slow. At the change from third to fourth (roughly around 115 m.p.h.),
I see the engine as at its peak, relative to other cars.

I don't know if you fellows have Calibras (Opel) over there, but the
audi will toast those, too. Similarly all those hot hatch cars, little
roller skates with mega-tuned 16 valve two litre fours under the bonnet.
I like to think of their acne faced drivers shitting themselves at the
sight of me rapidly accelerating up to them.

Then I grow up! Seriously, the big slush box audi will hold its own
with any salloon of 530i type or less, and any of the hot hatches,
corrados, GTis or not. I love it
