Can the speedometer operation be restored with a "smart tap"
on the instrument panel while the car is in motion. Did it go
intermittant before it died. Does the cruise still work

Some of the electrical connections behind the instrument panel
give trouble when they get older.

1. If the cruise still works, your speed pulse transducer on
the transmission is O.K. Probably a bad connection
	in the instrument panel.

2. If the cruise does'nt work, see if you can check the speed
transducer ( look at Bentley ). If thgis is O.K. it
means a bad instrument panel, but bad connections
ARE FIXABLE if you know how to fix bad electronic
connections. Else, go for the used cluster. The
odometer might be a mechanical problem anyhow.
