Notice though that the relay for the old style ECC was mainly for
allowing unlimited time rear defog. The stupid GM ECC switched the
rear defog off after 10 minutes no matter what. The even more stupid
thing about the audi setup was that once you had switched the rear
defog on, you could not switch it off without shutting the ignition
off! The indicator in the ECC panel still went out after 10 mins.
This was pretty annoying on one trip I and a two guys made to the
Austrian alps. A 22 hour trip with refueling stops only. After the
stops we needed to defog the rear window, 10 minutes would have
been sufficient, not 4-5 hours.
