Engine died on 5000S

This morning in good weather (30 degrees) after running for about 5 minutes 
the engine on my 87 5ksq just stopped. 

It refused to start although turned over strongly for about 10 minutes. 
After getting my wife to drive me to work I gave it one more try. It chugged 
into life slowly (may be flooded) and then ran fine.

I am loking for suggestions on why it may have stopped and not be able to 
restart in the first place.

Pleas e-mail me directly as I have temporarily unsubscribed because I am
