WHY? ..... the burning question!

IMO there are displays that are appropriate only for analog displays and some that 
can be used either A or D.  Simply because digital logic and electronic displays 
are used doesn't mean that everything needs to be displayed with 7-segments.  Look 
inside the cockpit of most modern aircraft and there are some "analog" style gauges 
for back up, but the displays that are used are digitally controlled.  I've never 
seen the Audi digital dash so I'm curious.  If someone says that they have retro-
fitted one then I might look around to see what one looks like to see if I might 
want to put one into my car ... If I know there's no way I can do it I won't think 
about it further.  Of course it is probably true that anything is possible!

I really liked the capability of the Corvette "digital" dash to select what gauges 
you wanted to display.  Try that with a typical analog display.
