ticking sound?

NO, its not a bomb.
 When the car is running  I hear a ticking sound coming from the engine 
block.  It varies with the speed that the engine is running at. 
It is farily loud and doesn't sound natural.  Is this normal for Audis or 
is there a problem with one of my valves?
