Before they were legal in CT, they could not confiscate or destroy them. 
I was pulled over with one (not because of it though) all he did was 
check the serial number to see if it was stolen. But I did get it back. 
Apparently there were law suits against them for destroying personal 
property.

Also: You could NOT  get pulled over for having a radar detector. YOu 
have to be doing something else wrong first, but you know the story, if 
they see a detector, they'll make something up.
