rpm limit: how high is high (fwd)

Hi everyone,

Is it really safe to run engine at or around rpm limit (I suppose that is 
red line @ 7000 on 90q20v) ?

Is it recommended and good for the car to run high rpm on a regular or 
occassional basis ?   I am not concerned about the gas consumption but 
the wear of the engine and transmission parts ?

If engine does cut-out at limit, should I leave the transmission in gear and 
let the rpm drop below limit, and the engine would just recover ?
