I'm not sure what the differnece in price is due to either. Since I needed the
car back REAL quick (she has my Quattro!) I couldn't wait too long to get the
'84 fixed. I took a gamble and went ahead and picked up only the tie rod end,
and went home to try my luck. The old end came right off! No fuss, no muss.
The new one worked like a charm, went back together very nicely. Whole job
cost me $25 in parts, and about a half an hour of labor, including stopping by
the store on the way home to pick up the part! I haven't driven it more than
ten miles since the new end was installed, but eh car does feel a lot more
solid now. Hopefully this cues everything...
