More than likely.  The compressor takes quite a bit of horsepower to run.
This will put a fair load on an idling engine.  It's also noticeable at
speed, but the effect isn't nearly so pronounced.  

I understand that the idle speed can be adjusted fairly easily.  I haven't
messed with it in my 200TQ, but it's pretty straighforward in other cars
I've worked on.  Before I started messing with it, I think I'd find out the
correct technique for Audis.  :-)  Probably, as the start of the procedure,
you are to bow down before the car and make a generous monetary offering
while gently rubbing the four rings with a Zymol soaked chamois.  :-)  After
that, you'd better check with someone who knows the rest of the ritual (like
which screw to turn which direction and how much).
