Mine has only the meager single outlet, which is known in VW circles to
be not-so-good in performance, but also prone to crack. The '87 VW Fox
that provided some parts for the 4KS also had the single outlet manifold.

The factory Fox exhaust system is terrible! It uses the same cat as a
4KS, but actually has a restrictor plate to lessen exhaust flow. That's
right folks, VW used a "donut" gasket that is the same diameter as mine
on the outside, yet the hole in the center is about 1.25". Coupled to
the puny (1.5"?) pipes from the cat back, and the torturous exhaust path,
the Fox exhaust is killing those poor little horsespowers. A good
exhaust system is said to be worth upward of 15hp, and looking at the
stock setup, it's not hard to believe.
