Yeah, that wuz me. I'm replacing all the brake splash shields
on the '85 ur-Q to solve the same problem you are seeing,
they rust, bend and scrape, etc. If you've ever driven any
car through water deep enough to immerse the rotors then
you know how ineffective brakes can be when soaked!
I suppose that for a fair-weather-only race car, removal
would aid cooling, if allowed by the rules for the class,
but this might not be the hot setup for the street......
