Your problem is caused by loose/damaged wiring to the shift lock and brake ligth
switch.
There are two switches located on the brake pedal bracket.
One is responsible for shift lock release, other for brake lights.
Both of them use common ground to the chassis of the car.
When brake pedal is at rest brake light switch is open and shift lock switch
is closed.
Check them for proper operation but I am pretty sure that the problem is with
ground connection of those swithes to the chassis of the car.
