My 5KCSTQ
I've been following this list for some time...thanks to all who provide
such useful information.
Last fall I bought an 86 5KCSTQ and am very impressed with it. It was in
pretty good condition when I bought it and showed just 74K miles, but I
think the speedo has been replaced. It seems that it was pretty
neglected for a few years before I bought it, but I figured for $3,200 I
couldn't go wrong.
I've put 15K miles on it since then and I've replaced the following:
Windshield.
Front door handles.
All door strikers.
Resister for radiator fan (was on "high" all the time)
(the fan had just been replaced, but I had to work on the
melted wiring loom to get all the warning lights off in the dash).
Front crank seal (did the timing belt while there).
Rear shocks (adjustable Konis).
Most all the hoses & belts including the $70 hose from the intercooler
to the intake manifold which developed a tear on the under side.
Both water temp senders.
Brakes & Rotors in the front.
I've enjoyed working on the car, and now that most everything is
working properly I am almost to the point where I can start toying
with the idea of getting a IA kit for the car. However there are two
things I am having some difficulty finding:
1. A couple of the rear bushings are shot (gives me a klunking sound
when more than 1 person is in the car...took me forever to figure
it out) and after the dealer gave me the wrong part TWICE I was able
to get the part number off one of the old bushings only to have them
tell me it was no longer available.
2. The relay that controls gives power to the sunroof & window switches
only works 30% of the time (it'll work the other 70% if I reach under
the dash and tap on it a few times. I can find this part, but the
dealer wants >$200 for it.
Anyone have any ideas where I might be able to dig up these parts?
Thanks!
