Check the fuel check-valve, at the discharge side of your fuel pump.
That was the problem with my VW GTI.   In my case, there was a slow 
leak in the check valve.  The bottom line is that the pressure gauge 
may show that pressure is being held by the check valve - at first.  
But after 20 minutes or so, the pressure start to drop.   Therefore, 
after an hour or so, my GTI had problem.    Problem fixed after check 
valve was replaced.  But the mechanic at first insisted that he 
already checked the check valve because it did hold pressure for a 
minute or so.
