Here's a puzzler.....
I purchased new engine mounts for the '85 ur-Q to
install when the KuQEFH goes in.
Here is what I received from PAP:
Mount, Motor, Audi 4000CSQ, R 85-8 443 199 381 J $44.60
Mount, Motor, Audi 5000 D/TD 79-83 431 199 381 L $58.00
Now here's the puzzler, both parts look *identical*.
Both have the "443 199 381 J" part number molded
into the rubber part of the mount. Each part does
have a sticker on it with the above textual description.
I seem to remember similar problems when I bought
new mounts for the '84 4000Q. Also, the "J" part has
"CLO5" and the "L" part has "CLO3" molded into
the rubber part in letters larger than the "443 199 381 J"
partnumbers molded into each.
(Also got trans mounts, both 431 399 151 D, no problem there, I think)
Anyone know what gives? Is the only difference the
price/partnumber? Is something inside different,
that gives the 5000TD mount more strength or
stiffness? Which is L and R? Are they designed to
absorb torque in a particular direction? What gives?
Thanks,
-glen
