V8 Quattro tyres

I am involved in the restoration of classic jaguars and drive two 
audis..the conv is my wife's and I drive a 91 v-8. My question to you 
all is regarding the best tyre for these cars... Initial I had a rather 
sustained argument with Audi about the orig equip tyres tat went bald 
at 10,000 miles ( very inferior stuff) I have since put goodyear eagle 
GTs on and they are beginning to fade after 22,000 miles. Inflation has 
been consistantly kept at 36 psi although in reading some of the posts 
it would appear better results were achieved at 40 psi..tyre wear??

Any recommendations on the best tyre for this car ??
