Offset TDC mark



Hello:

This weekend I changed the timing belt on my 4Kcsq.  Thanks to
the members of this list the job went very smoothly.  The interesting
part is that when I was going to put the engine at TDC by aligning
the mark on the crankshaft pulley with the pointer in the oil pump
(just like the manual shows...), the camshaft mark did not line up
properly.

I performed the old test of the screwdriver down the spark plug hole
and finally got the engine at TDC (made shure I was on the compression
stroke by looking through the oil filler cap).  To my surprise, the
TDC mark on the pulley was offset by about 45 degrees!

Has anyone run into this problem or has a clue a to what's going on?
