And my understanding of cooling systems may outweigh my (trying to get
shorter) responses......  The main point that rdh put so well is that a
simple thermostat change should be complemented with a lower fan thermostat
as well, otherwise your gains are not all that you are after....  

I would certainly like to still get your 2k word post, I think that if your
experience is with cooling sytems, and the audis certainly don't come to mind
as one of the best in the autoworld, maybe there are some less than obvious
mods that might come of it.....  
And with the turbo mods coming that will push me into the from the 350
towards the 400hp mark soon, cooling oil and water will become even a higher
priority......
