Re: 5000 brake mods contemplated

In a word the Repco's SUCK... They may work OK on the street or in a auto-x
(A real one, not what the Q-Club calls an Auto-x), but the moment you push
the car the "Slagmaster" just can't handle the Thermal loads that your asking
them to deal with. I have a problem with any brake pad that you can crumble
with your fingers after they get hot.

The thing to remember is for the speeds that our Modifided cars are going,
the brakes do not have the thermal rejection required, so you have to have a
pad that can work at higher temps.

The Pagids work great although they are very expensive (Right Scott?) The
Cool Carbons are a excellent choice... If you don't mind cleaning your wheels
every 3 days, and you can ignore the "Carbon Squeal". Quite they ain't. The
cool thing though is they have a ceramic thermal barrier built into them to
help prevent fulid boil. They have an incredible amount of bite and stopping
power, they'll plaster your face to the windshield, Plus they have enough
bite that if you jump on the brakes at over 100mph you can beat the ABS and
momentarily look the wheels. Something that the Repcos only wish they could
do.

The SS/teflon lines just prevent hose flex, and increase pedal feel.
