Re: 83 TQC Turtling
I have seen a failure mode for some ignition sensor where heat is the cause.
This may be applicable...
I knew a guy with a Renault Alliance. He complained about his car quitting
on him once and a while, mostly around town, but not on the highway.
He would stop for a while, and it would be OK after that. So, onetime
he has his car at school, and it won't work. I probe around the engine
compartment to size up the situation, and nothing looks terribly wrong.
We check a few things, and it looks like he has no spark.
I noticed that it has a flywheel sensor tied into the ignition wiring
harness. On a chance, I get a bucket of water and dump some of it on the
sensor, and lo and behold, it starts! So, I send him off with a gallon
jug of water in the back seat, and tell him to buy a new sensor the first
chance he gets..
Sounds like you might want to try this diagnostic technique. :-)
