D**n, I thought I was the only one who had that idea :) ... I
actually got the idea for mine from the console on my '78 Fox,
which had 3 gauges in the console. The way I performed the mod
it is a 5 minute job to return the console back to stock. I pur-
chased a replacement diff lock panel from the dealer and cut out
holes for two standard VDO gauges on either side of the diff lock
switch (pull-out-to lock type). A drilled two holes for the lock
lights above the switch. To obtain a charging system status dis-
play I bought a $5 3-LED charging system tester that plugs into a
cigarette lighter socket (from oidaR kcahS). I removed the circuit
board and LEDs, drilled three appropriately spaced holes below the
lock switch and installed the circuit board there. To make the
fascia I picked up some black plastic sheeting that had an adhesive
back and satin finished front and cut the appropriate holes in it.
I still have the original diff locking panel with the useless-but-
cool (R) graphics if I wanted to go back to the stock look.
I'd still like to install the "Abt" gauge extension if I could
purchase one for a reasonable price ...
