5KCSTQ: Compressor Cutoff

Don't mean to start this tHread all over, but I have a question concerning the
recent discussion re. WOT cutoff of the AC compressor.

I was reading in my Bentleys that while testing the AC do NOT cycle from AUTO to
ECON and back without waiting a minute.  I've seen similar warnings on home ACs
and the like.

Now, if we were to cut the compressor when at WOT and then allow it to compress
any other time, wouldn't that imply that the compessor would be cycled over a
matter of seconds instead of minutes.  I don't know the reasoning to wait, other
than possibly pressure equalization so that there is no chance of trying to
compress a liquid.

Any ideas as to how to approach this??  Any way around it, or do you pays your
money and takes your chances?? I think the automatics already do it, and I know
a bunch of the cars that I rent do it to (course those cars are built to break).
