Burning Out Light Sockets?
OK, gents, let's take inventory on this light deal. I'm running
100/60 bulbs in a '90 200T using the standard harness. No problems
so far, but I don't run on brights much around here....traffic is
fairly heavy.
SO - I hear about using an extra harness with relays (I also remember
reading about this a few months back when I joined this group) AND
THEN I read that regardless, I'll burn out the sockets in my (big
rectangular and undoubtedly hideously expensive) headlights. Which I
interpret to mean the harness idea is moot, onna counta I'll BBQ the
lights regardless of the power source.
What's the deal, folks? One of the posts today implies that the
material behind the reflector (and not a bad idea to consider having
the reflector improved, if possible...) is plastic. Do I deduce
correctly that the basic problem is that socket area of the headlight
assembly is plastic, and that it simply cannot accept the heat from
upgraded bulbs...and will fry?
Inquiring minds wanna know about this before it's too late!!
