Re: TQC Brake Upgrade
Most folks that sell the calipers give you just that the caliper with the
pistons in it, that's not enough, you need the caliper/pad carrier, the part
that actually bolts up to the strut.... They are different on the single vs
dual piston.... The rotors are thicker on the dual piston and have vents
near the hub..... The lines are longer on the dual pistons, cuz the metal
"S" pipe that connects the line to the caliper is not on the dual pistons, it
goes directly to the hole in the caliper, so the line will also have a male
end on the piston side instead of female on the single...... I converted my
old 86 5ktq, and found these issues pretty quickly.......

Thanks for all the tips, Scott.
Well let's see where I'm at:
-Pads, Calipers, Pin Kits, Piston Rebuld Kits and lines are
coming in starting today, I hope.
-I haven't ordered the rotors yet, but just need to get the
offsets and call back to Best Price.
-The proportioning value upgrade is still to be worked.
-I ordered semi-metallic, and was told NO NO METALICS!
-The calipers from Shokan ARE coming with the mouting brakets
-Linda SHOULD know to get me the correct front brake lines,
even if I didn't.
-I have scratched DOT 5 and will use some DOT4 instead.
I was planning on starting this weekend, but since I don't
have rotors or the new proportioning valve, I will have to
wait. I may send back the semi-m and get metal masters.
I think that's where it's at. Maybe over the holidays...
