It doesn't surprise me that you run cooler with a new radiator - After
sitting in on an ASME satellite broadcast on enhanced heat transfer
I was under the impression that radiators are well (>2x) overdesigned
to take into account the scaling and general degradation of an
automotive radiator after a few years - basically you decreased
the resistance from the fluid to the air and so in a static case your
coolant is at a lower temp to transfer the same amount of heat.
Kind of makes you wonder if it should be a standard maintenance item
on high performance vehicles (where reduced raditor size really
means something)
