Re: 200T Front End Noise

I haven't replaced wheel bearings on an Audi but I have done them on
several Rabbits - looking at the manual they look very similar. A friend
of mine has replaced them on a 5000.

Anyways, special tools are not required to do the job - other than some
heavy duty washer of varying sizes or you can use discs that come in a
package (various size discs).

I posted the procedure to the VW newsgroups and I can send you a copy (let me
know). It's not that difficult and well worth it since mechanics charge alot
to do this. I sure felt a great sense of accomplishment after doing them
myself.

BTW there is a 'wheel bearing' topic in the quattro list archives. It
recommends that this procedure is not for the shadetree mechanic - I
personally don't agree.
