Jeff,

Like yourself, I am interested in the A4, but have wondered about
Audi's reliability.  I've talked with several mechanics and owners and
have determined that after about 1983 reliability has been on a steady
increase and most feel that the current cars are on a par with the
other German makes.  I suspect that there might be other members of the
list who could provide some more quantitative information.

Resale will always be somewhat of a problem here in the US, unless
you're like me and plan to keep the car a long time (and then who
cares).  A review I read on the car in Auto Motor und Sport (reprints
might be available from your dealer) showed that Audi's resale value is
comparable to Mercedes and BMW in Europe.

Personally, I think that you WOULD be crazy not to get the quattro
version.  I've even heard speculation from our local dealer that within
the next few years Audi will move to an all quattro product lineup.
