re: strut braces on ur-q's
i had a look at this before i sold my '85 ur-q. i was advised that it made no
difference. i talked to malcolm stewart who rallied stiq blomquist's ur-q here
in nz for years until retiring in '93. the a17 quattro (which i had a look at)
had no strut brace, but of course did have a full cage which would have
stiffened it considerably.
certainly my s2 coupe has a brace, but then i'd be very surprised if it was as
stiff a car as the ur-q; judging by the enormous sills on the ur-q, and the
experience of the guy i sold my ur-q to who tried to write it off by rolling it
into a field (i did try to explain to him that the diffs should be locked when
driving hard but he didn't understand)...
