PIAA Lights, amber fog lights

Hello,

Here is the address and phone number for PIAA Corporation. Their corporate headquarters are
located 1 mile from where I work. They have a catalog with information on all
their lights, beam patterns etc. The following information came from their product brochure.

Regarding amber fog lamps:

PIAA states that "Amber beams have proven to be more effective than clear beams only when
used in heavy snowfalls. With the exception of heavy snow conditions, clear fog lights will perform
as well if not better than amber"

The PIAA catalog explains their new amber technology "Ion Crystal" lens as follows:

"The disadvantage of the traditional amber lens is that aproximately 20% to 30% of the light
efficiency is lost as it passes through an amber colored lens. Therefore the performance of the
light is sacrificed to the color of the beam. In order to provide a light with the intensity of a
clear lens but the color of amber, PIAA developed a new technology of coating the lens with a
silicon based substance call Ion Crystal. Ion Crystal, when applied to a lens or a bulb, changes the
light to amber without reducing the light output. "
