QTC: Starter removal

It looks like I'm going to need to replace the starter in the QTC soon.
It was failing to pull in the solenoid when the engine was really hot, 
but now it seems to happen sometimes when the engine is cold too.  I 
almost pulled the thing out a couple of weeks ago, but had some real 
problems accessing the bolts.  As far as I can tell the starter is held 
in place by 2 bolts.  I can't seem to get to the fore end of the bottom 
one thanks to the subframe, and the top one seems to be inaccessible.  
Any ideas on how I can easily get the starter out?  TIA!
