Re: HOLD THE REPAIRS-Let's have fun-Saved Mom's life

Well right after my parents got their 5000S Quattro (non-turbo) in '87, my
mom was driving down a 2 lane road in Memphis. She described how a pickup
truck pulled out from behind a semi into her lane right in front of her.
She said she hit the brakes (ABS) and swerved off the road onto the soft
shoulder. She said she was able to swerve right back on again in one
motion. Now, my mom is probably a statictically better-than-average driver,
but she's no Andretti (or should I say Villenevue). The car was not only
able to do the maneuver, but do it with enough composure that she never lost
control all the while standing on the brake pedal. She said it just went
out and around the truck like nothing. I'd say there's a pretty good chance
it saved her from a head-on collision in a 55 zone. I'd guess alot of other
cars would have locked all 4, or just fishtailed into the ditch.

I have the car now, and at 90k mi, it's as tight as ever.
