Timing belt change on a 93 2.8V6 100CSQ

I'm very close to buying a 93 100CSQ with 60K miles. I asked the  
sales rep. (I know, wrong guy to ask) if the timing belt should be  
changed. He went and spoke to the service department and they said  
their book said to have the tech check the condition of the belt  
during the 60K mile service and base a decision on that. They are  
going do the 60K mile service on it. Anyone know of any statements  
from Audi on this issue relative to the 2.8V6.
