PracticalV.SpeedVhandlingVgirlfriend

Ok fellas, what do I do? Of course, I am virtually broke but $800 is coming
my way soon! And since I will spend it before I've got it, I need your
advice! My girlfriend (the downfall of male impulsiveness) has rained on the
parade of me getting larger wheels/tires for my 200QTW'89. However, it is
nearly due for the dreaded 60K check up. IF I position performance upgrades
as part of the "maintenance costs", I can get away with it. Know what I mean?

So, here are the options:
1. Tune up: costs: 300 to 600$. That's leaves some extra cash to blow on
perf. upgrades. Do I
  A. go for Horsepower! Intended Acceleration (Ned himself) has nearly sold
me on spending 795$ to get my car pumped from 162hp to 220hp, I just send in
the ECU and 3 days later, the Audi kicks ass and passes CA smog. Of course, I
won't have a car for those three days and the 800 bux has just eaten up rent.
A1. Get a Superchips chip. At an incredible 495$, I can get 65hp sent to my
home where I will attempt to install it into the ECU. Of course, I will screw
something up, break the OEM EPROM and have to go to my mechanic (incidently,
the greatest guy in the world, Tony Dvorak, owner of the most spotless shop
in the world called EURO QUATTRO) and have him harangue me about what an
idiot I am for not staying OEM.
 A2. Get ABT's chip, 65hp, 395$ and "stronger wastegate spring". How do I (a
non-self-oil changer) install a wastegate spring.
A3. BEG Dinan engineering to let my Audi be a guinea pig for their chip
development.
Likely answer: if I do the chip, Intended Acceleration is the way to go. And
800$ is a ways to go.

OR DO I do handling mods:
The car can only accept 205 width tires. It could squeeze 210's but of
course, those don't exist. I think 215's might work. The beautiful stock 15x6
BBS type wheels, painted pearl I don't like because they don't have enough
lip and in my mind create too much lean could be upgraded to 15x7 or 15x7.5
or 17x7.5. 16's won't work because no tire will fit right. So, if I got 17's,
I would need 215/45's and they might rub on the wheel well anyway. And not
many rims are available for the 200. Guess I’ll have to find some used S4/S6
rims. Anyone know where/how much they are? And the size?

Bottom line is, horsepower is nice. But what happens to MPG? I commute 80
miles a day so gas mileage is important. HP means trouble and I’ve got four
tickets already. But handling-the car will look better and be more fun to
drive in virtually every situation. WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!??
