Exackly! this "tune up" crap really pisses me off, its a myth perpetuated
by mechanics to get at your hard earned money. Maybe in the days of
carburetors, points and mechanical valves such a thing existed, but now
we have fuel injection, hydraulic valves and hall-effect electronic
ignition, all of which just look after themselves.

If you love cars, learn to do basic stuff for yourself, and save a bundle.

Furthermore, whatever you decide to do with your $800, may I suggest you
keep back $100 & use it to take your long-suffering girl for a great 
evening out. This will repay itself many times over, I promise!
