   Optically coupled triacs??? (insert stupid look here) On a SS relay??? 
   No, nothing much more than a transistor array with medium forward bias 
   and PN junction.  Never took one apart, but they are pretty simple.

Yeah, but don't you still have a .3 - .7 volt drop across the junction?
