re: solid state relays

Look in the Teledyne solid state relay catalog for varieties. You'll
find FETs, Triacs, SCRs, and Bipolar transistors in the output. One
squib fire solid state relay has a mechanical relay in it to assure zero volts
across the output. Most all are optically coupled to isolate the
control from the output which is the main function of a relay. Some
are available with status out indicating current flow(lights are on)
and some have a built in circuit breaker.
