rep. noisy lifters

Erick, I to have recently replaced all the hydraulic lifters in
my 4KQ  because they were noisy.  The replacement went very
smoothly.  I expected the lifters to be very quite they bled
themselfves in, but to my surprise one or two never did quiten
down.  I am in the process of determing which one or two are the
noisy ones, by inserting a feeler gauge between the cam lob and
the follower (with the cover off and oil flying everywhere). I
can't think of any other way to determine which lifter in noisy. 
I open to suggestions.  I will let you know how it works out.
