If I'm not mistaken the '84 4ks has hydraulic valves,
and they self adjust as oil pressure comes up. 3-4 seconds
of noise is not unusual, but you may be able to reduce it.
You can clean the oil passages with a solvent additive for
that purpose, or go to an oil with ower pumping losses.
That normally means going to a good synthetic oil.
Knocking due to pinging and valve clatter are different.
One happens at start up, the other at wide open throttle (WOT).
