This isn't true anymore.  All of the ester oils (Amsoil, Redline, etc.) are
using modified petroleum (kinda like Mobil 1) in their oils these days.  The
pure ester base oils don't cut it anymore and the addition of a little dino
is making them a better oil.  They are still primarily ester, however, and
far, far better oils than the olefins.
