Yes Richard, there is.  My UrQ had the same setup when bought it. 
First, I replaced the drain plug wih a regular oil drain plug. 
Next, at the front of the engine (underneath the car) you will
find the external oil pump.  There is a srew in plug that you can
take out and replace with a sending unit plug just like that
installed (standard equipment) on the 86 csq.  I have both cars,
and I have performed the operation.  If you want to talk to me
