Re: pre-lube prior to first time startup

Well, I'm not sure how it may relate to an Audi, but when rebuilding my '82
Coupe de Ville, we had to prime the pump with Petroleum Jelly (Vasoline); we
learned the hard way - we had installed the pump on the car, without stuffing
it full of vasoline, and it, too, kept sucking air. We went back to the
service manual, and Voila!, it said to load it with vasoline! (So much for
reading the service manual....) We had to remove the pump, load it up, and
reinstall it (of course, due to the tight compartment, we never could get it
on tight, and it leaked from then on... if only we had done it right when we
had the engine torn apart.....oh well, lesson learned).

I don't know if this is your answer, but you asked for feedback......

Good Luck!
