Regarding electrical problems

In the same vein as the problems with cold solder joints creating problems
with the fuel injection on our Audi vehicles, I wonder if the same can be
applied to a problem I have with power seat memory.

I have a 1987 Audi 5000 turbo quattro. THe problem resides with the memory
for the power seats. With 2 regular drivers, it is nice to have the two
different (extreme, I might add!) positions remembered. For several months
we had problems where the memory would be maintained for weeks at a time,
and then would be lost. Push a memory button and release (CLICK CLUNK)...
seat would not move. All memory positions are now lost...

Now it seems as of last week that the memory is not retained at all. No matter
how often you try to save the memory, nothing is stored. Where should I start,
and is this fixable or a known "throw-away-and-buy-new" problem. Could there
be a module with soldered components that may need solder reflowing??

Thanks for any leads!
