parts through the web
I recently tried the http://www.tnnet.com/thoroughbred/home.htm that someone
posted on the list a few weeks ago. I actually bought a part from them and
was quite satisfied with the service.
I was looking for a radiator for an 87 GT special edition. This part had
earlier caused much confusion with other regular OEM-part suppliers because it
was a middle-of-the-year change (the car has two radiators). The best price I
could find for an OEM part was $300, and nobody had it in stock.
Anyway, the guy with Thoroughbred Motor Cars (a dealer), tells me how the list
price is almost $800 and that he would sell it to me for a mere $650. I told
him what I found it for, he muttered some excuse about thinking that I wanted
Audi part, not OEM part. He also said that he would go and "do the leg work,
because he wanted my business," and I figured I'd never hear from him again.
Well, after a few days, he calls me to say that he located the OEM part (AKG)
for $245 + $6 shipping. I got the part a week ago.
