To relate some experience from another list, the homebrew-digest is
frequented by amatuer and professional brewers alike. Frequently very
interesting exchanges of info, usually deeply rooted in chemistry and
empiracle studies.
However, there is an equipment vendor who is active on the list and takes
every opportunity to rip on competitive products and tout his own as the
best on the planet using colorful language and unfair comparisons.
Complaints have been sent to him and the list admin with no avail. Such
bravado is not impressive for me, and becomes quite annoying quite quickly
(not to mention that his products stink, IMO).
While I'm not opposed to commercial interests on the list (I would LOVE to
have Ned be more active), I think they should be allowed under the VERY
strict condition that they behave themselves or they're out! They will
receive a full refund of their "subscription" to this list, no questions
asked! ;-)
