BMW may actually have "won" on this case since the settlement consisted of a
rebate coupon good on the purchase of a new BMW, this at a time when dealers
were having a difficult time moving cars.  I'll bet they considered it to be
a marketing/promotion expense rather than payment for "damages" per se...
