years ago, I was told that Audi used the metal shielded plug wires for extra
radio noise suppression.  where VW used the plain rubber plug conectors, the
high-tension side of the ignition was on the far (forward) side of the engine
block--away from the radio system.  on the Audi, without a motor between
ignition and radio stuff, they figured they needed more radio suppression
aid.  I figure it as another way to more $$$ from us (BTW, I used a rubber
connector Rabbit wire set on the old 4000 1.6L without problem).
