The Rapp on exhaust
Glen:
Your post the other day on wrapping the exhaust is not exactly right.....
AFTER the turbo, a great (practical,?) practice would be to wrap that
exhaust from the turbo to the muffler, your expression is exactly the
opposite...... Take a look at some of the NASCAR cars, in fact ALL of
them....... Hmmmmm...... That exhaust is wrapped from the head to the tip
of the pipe, all the way........ In fact, wrapping the exhaust on the turbo
cars from the head to the tailpipe would be very good....... However, then
you are back to my argument on this practice when the car is shut off, at the
manifold and the turbo, that wrap bcomes the insulator of 1700+ degrees
F...... But after the turbo, on the tweeked cars esp., you can feel the
difference......
Without getting the nerd book on exhausts going here, let's just say that you
will notice the difference in performance on an exhaust that is wrapped post
turbo, and it's not in a bad way whatsoever...... HINT: the LEAST I would
do is wrap from the turbo to the cat on a stock exh.
