obviously a turbo raises the bmep and torque of a given amount of
displacement.  but he also mentioned driveability... does the
esprit have the bypass valve to preserve boost when you lift off
or does every gearchange entail a long unpleasant wait for boost
to rebuild?  i recall that lotus made many incremental refinements
to their turbo implementation.

i am not a fan of the old school on-off turbo, because it makes things
unnecessarily complicated while cornering.. but then i never claimed to
have even a fraction of hans stuck's ability either...
