new suspension - parts search

I am beginning to gather parts for a new suspension for my 87 5KS - 
what should this include. somebody suggested shorter high perf springs but 
I think I want to be able to drive over sh.t. 

the control arm bushings - can they be replaced or can you replace just the
bushings.
